FAQs
What is Mulk?
Mulk is a dairy-alternative milk made from almonds–and sun-kissed, Californian ones at that!
What makes Mulk different from other almond milks?
Mulk is a fresh, cold-pressed, plant-based milk made from sprouted almonds. It contains no gums, seed oils or preservatives thats found in big box brands. Where these brands only have 2% almonds, Mulk has 10x that, so 20% more which means you will taste them! Mulk is also pressure pasteurized instead of being heat treated like other clean-label dairy-alt brands. This means you will be getting a higher concentration of nutrients in Mulk.
Why should I drink Mulk over other plant-based mylks?
By sprouting our almonds we maximize inherent nutrients like protein, magnesium, and vitamin E. Big box plant-based brands add synthetic vitamins or minerals back in since theirs is made from hydrolyzed powder (oats) or paste (nut mylks) and only 2% of the actual plant ingredient. You are really just drinking gums, sometimes seed oils and water! The final outcome of Mulk is a creamy, not watery, and never chalky beverage. With no gums or additives, it’s also gentle on IBS and sensitive stomachs. And yes… Mulk is darn delicious ;)
What are the benefits of almond Mulk over dairy?
Mulk is dairy-free, lactose-free and easy to digest as well as cholesterol-free making it heart-healthy. There are no hormones and antibiotics that is found in dairy milk and it is much lower in calories! Mulk is cold-pressed and never heat-treated thus maximizing inherent nutrients.
What is Mulk used for?
Anything you would use dairy or mylk for, like cereal, smoothies, barista drinks and having a glass with cookies. Mulk is also enjoyed as a healthy snacking beverage that will fill you while providing hydration, healthy fats and quality plant protein.
Where can I get Mulk?
We sell our 32oz glass jugs at farmers markets around San Diego. Our 12oz grab-and-go bottles and 32oz pouch is shiped nationwide. Order here:
What almonds do you use?
We use the sweetest Cali almonds sourced regionally from the Central Valley. Why would we increase our carbon footprint by importing from Italy or Spain when 80% of the worlds supply is grown in our backyard!
Don’t almond trees take a ton of water to grow?
Yup they do, but so do the crops grown to feed the dairy cows, in addition to the water required to run the farm and hydrate the livestock. And we have not yet started on the greenhouse gasses cows emit into the air. . . so almond trees still take less water than that to run a dairy farm.
Why call it Mulk?
I’m South African…it’s the way it sounds when I say “milk!” It also lets customers know that it’s non-dairy or a dairy-alt product.
What is the shelf life?
Our 32oz glass jugs last 7 days, refrigerated – open or closed. The 12oz bottle and 32oz pouch, are date stamped and should be opened by then and used within 5-days upon opening. These are typically 3-weeks from date of manufacture since we use pressure pasteurization to extend the shelf life.
What is pressure pasteurization?
Pressure Pasteurization is a cold, non-thermal method that applies water pressure to our Mulk products to eliminate harmful bacteria without heat. This keeps the mulk tasting fresh and raw-like, while preserving nutrients, texture, and flavor you’d lose with traditional pasteurization.
